Pineapple Shorts

You know sometimes you feel like there should be cameras following you around and you just have to stop and laugh at yourself? I have these moments all too often. Probably because I still firmly stand by the fact I should have a reality TV show. But, let me tell you about my weekend. On Saturday morning, I woke up to severe weather alerts (we're talking tornadoes, hail, the works). So expecting the worst, I planned a day at the DMV. Guess what's not open on Saturdays, Nashville DMVs. Luckily, to everyone's surprise, the day turned out absolutely gorgeous - the kind where you have all your windows rolled down, blaring music, driving downtown and enjoying some live music and good company. All of which I did. Sounds pretty good, right? Right.

Fast forward to dinner. My roommate and I were bringing her friend downtown to give her a true honky tonk experience. We go to the bar to order a drink where I realize I have two credit cards in my clutch, and no license. After an hour and half worth of Uber rides start to finish, I'm ready to order my drink, only for the bartender to not even card me this time. Now let's fast forward to Sunday morning. Remember that awful weather I mentioned? The rain came that night. Remember how I was soaking up the beautiful weather with my windows down? Yep, never rolled my windows up or closed my sunroof. In torrential rains. On my cloth seats. The look on my face must have been priceless when I walked outside and I immediately noticed my mistake. Because this is one of my worst fears. I seriously lay in bed in the middle of the night worrying I left my sunroof open if I hear it's raining.

Anyway, the point of this rant is not to give you a laugh, although I hope it resulted in one, but to explain that these pictures came from an impromptu photoshoot right after finding my soaking wet car and waiting an hour for breakfast at the Loveless Cafe. I spent the first 20 minutes repeating "I can't believe I did that" to just laughing at myself. I'm happy to report that my car is fully dried and I can really laugh at myself now. Not that I had much trouble with that before! And to add to my weekend, I walked through a parking lot today that was newly paved and got my heels stuck - needless to say some man who was waiting for his wife to get done shopping got a pretty good laugh this afternoon.

On to the outfit - I literally threw this on, sans makeup or contacts, completely not expecting to take blog pictures, but I am obsessed with these shorts and the pictures make me laugh so much, I had to share. Plus, I rarely am wearing a full face of makeup, if any, on the weekends, so this is pretty much how you get me on a Saturday or Sunday. These shorts are awesome to be super comfortable but still look really cute and can easily be dressed up with a cute tank and even some wedges. And they have pineapples and pom poms. Are there other things in life?

And now for the good ones...
So you're telling me it rained last night?

Friday Five

Happy Friday, y'all! Too soon? Does one month in Nashville qualify me to say y'all? No? Didn't think so. Happy Friday lovely readers!

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things over here with blogging, while also trying to get more regular outfit posts up. If the weather would cooperate on the weekend for once, that would make things a lot easier. We have our first visitor this weekend! Really, it's my roommates friend, but it's still exciting to have an apartment guest! This weekend also marks 1 month of living in Nashville. How crazy is that?! I feel like I moved last week!

Anyway, here's what I've been loving this week. Aside from coffee, all this dreary weather has made me so tired! Shout out to my boss for buying me a Keurig!

Amy Schumer. Amy Schumer's 2014 Gloria Awards and Gala speech resurfaced the internet this week, and I'm so glad it did. It's worth a read for all women out there. Pop Sugar captured the essence of the amazing speech with Amy's closing lines. P.S. I get told all the time I look like Amy Schumer. I don't see it? But I love her, so I'll take it!

Tim McGraw. Would it really be a Friday Five without a McGraw reference? I embarrassingly remember when his daughters were single digit ages, so it was kind of crazy to see this picture of the McGraw clan! But put a smile on my face nonetheless.

Mossimo Sandals. There seem to be Targets all around me down here, and I've been finding such great things! Like these sandals. I just got them in the mail and can't wait to put them to use this weekend! Slightly obsessed.

Jumpsuits. It's no secret that I love a good jumpsuit or romper. I snagged this jumpsuit from Old Navy on major sale a couple of weeks ago and got it in the mail on Friday and have already worn in twice. It is SO comfortable it feels like pajamas but makes you look totally put together. I've worn it with my Jacks both times and have gotten so many compliments. A definite must-have in my opinion.

Full House. Did you guys hear Full House is coming back?! Fuller House is coming to Netflix with D.J. Tanner as a single mom with appearances from all of the old cast! Minus Mary-Kate and Ashley, which is almost okay after the announcement that Nickelodeon has picked up their old shows and movies! The 90s are in full swing here in 2015, from fashion to TV! Also, can someone give me Aunt Becky's skin care routine? She looks great!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Thanks for reading!

Lily For Target

This was supposed to make it on the (non-existent) Friday Five, but a very fun, unexpected night out on Thursday didn't allow that post to happen :) The honky tonks will do that to ya...
Anyway, I am SO excited that TODAY is the day Lily for Target is launched! I may or may not have a reminder set in my phone, as if I would forget. These are some of my favorites from the collection, and I really only mean some. I seriously love every piece. The Boom Boom (the green leafy pattern) is definitely my favorite. Is it too aggressive if I buy one of everything in that print? I can't decide if I should take the gamble and go to an actual store, like, as soon as it opens, or not even risk it and order online. The struggle, people. It's real. Also, there are completely meaningless numbers on these items because the collection was only in look book form when I made it. So, those are just an added bonus for now! I'll link them later, if I remember...

Update: Thanks to a rainy Sunday morning, I overslept and jumped out of my bed like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. I immediately went online to find everything sold out. I should have known then. As I'm screaming to my roommate "It's Lily for Target day!!!" (seriously, I think I clapped, too), I see messages from my sister about how at 730 am, she had already fought off the crowds. Uh oh. It was 9:00 here. I went to two Targets, the first one displaying completely bare racks and the second one completely rearranged back to normal like the event never even happened! I found some girls clothing which I seriously debated buying large sizes in, but decided against it. From the sounds of today's #LilyHungerGames, it's probably for the best for not only my wallet, but for the crowds that would have been around me. I've got elbows, and I know how to use them :) But! I did pull the trigger on this gorgeous bag I've been eyeing for a few weeks. Lily inspired, if you will. It's actually neon pink, but isn't showing up like that online.
Which pieces are your favorites?!

Stripes & Leopard

Happy Monday! I was so excited to break out a dress this weekend in the 80+ degree weather! Not so excited about the pasty white legs showing, but hey, we can't have it all. My roommate's parents are in town so we got to spend time with them which was nice - a little piece of home! Last week seemed to be a little hectic - a birthday celebration, a benefit concert, traveling to Knoxville for work, squeezing in workouts to counteract all the delicious Nashville food (aka BBQ) - so it was nice to a have a fairly low key weekend.

I love that mixing patterns is such a huge trend right now, so I've been taking full advantage of it! Leopard always ends up being a neutral in my outfits, but the stripe and leopard look is one of my faves! I wore this outfit sightseeing with my roommates family on Sunday. A t-shirt dress should be a Sunday staple, in my opinion. I also threw on the necklace I mentioned here, which I may have worn almost every day last week. Oops.

I Believe In Nashville

Well, to say it's been a whirlwind few weeks would be quite an understatement. I got a new job, packed up a U-Haul and drove 20 hours to my new life in Tennessee all within 3 weeks! (Huge shoutout to my mom and brother for helping me move). So, after a brief hiatus, I'm back at it. And what a better way to get back into the swing of things than with a Nashville themed post.

My roommate and I spent Easter enjoying the 70 degree weather and took the opportunity to take a few touristy pictures before we got lunch. Which was really just to wash down all the chocolate I hadn't eaten in 40 days during lent :)

I got a little preoccupied posing for these pictures that I forgot to even focus on any parts of my outfit, mostly my necklace that I'm in love with that you can't even see. Oh well! Next time.
