So, you've made it to at least the About page and for that I thank you! I'm Colleen, the fairly typical twenty-something year old behind Pleather & Sparkles.

Speaking of Pleather & Sparkles, you may be wondering how this name ever came to be. Or, maybe you couldn't care less. Either way, here's the story: it was New Year's Eve and I had absolutely no desire to do anything fancy. My sisters were asking me about my plans, and most importantly, my outfit. What was I wearing that night? Just "pleather leggings and a sparkly top". My oldest sister laughed and said that would be the name of my book (there will be a book one day), but for now, it will be the name of my blog! And, for the record, I do eventually plan to upgrade from pleather to leather one day, but a girl's gotta fake it 'til she makes it.

I was born and raised in southern, coastal Connecticut, but now call Nashville my home. No, I'm not an aspiring singer or songwriter. Quite simply, I hate winter and LA was just too far. And, have you ever been to Nashville? Have you hated it? Didn't think so! I grew up pretty much smack dab in the middle of New York City and Boston. And for that, I can thank my self declared "preppy meets trendy" (enter: pleather leggings) style, which is what I hope brings you to this blog today!

Aside from maintaining (fingers crossed) Pleather & Sparkles, I work in advertising full time and can be found at the beach or enjoying a nice cold brew after a hard workout. You're probably picturing me glamorously drinking a craft beer after pilates who barely broke a sweat in class, but you're about to take fashion advice from a girl who has been known to run to the bar. You've been warned :)
