Friday Five: Superbowl Edition

Well, I've just been living in slacker city over here on my blog. Last weekend was the first weekend I was actually home since the holidays, so to sit down and blog was right on the list of things to do with laundry, vacuum, take Christmas decorations down.....

Oops. Fingers crossed that my lack of blogging and free time will pay off very shortly.

Anyway, here are my top 5 perks of the Superbowl as someone who couldn't care less about football.

Snacks. On snacks on snacks. Nachos. Wings. BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP. Give me all of the snacks.

Beer. It would be wrong to not drink a beer while "watching" football yelling football things. Come on ref, let 'em play!

Commercials. Cliche, I know. But watch this year's Budweiser commercial, if for no other reason than the hunk of a man and the cutest little puppy in it.

Outfits. Sure, everyone may be wearing football jerseys, but the Seahawks are right on trend with the neon in their uniforms, so what better way to declare yourself a fan than through accessorizing?

Butts. Tom Brady in tights. That is all.

Now, I know you're all probably wondering who my pick is for the Superbowl, considering my extensive knowledge on the topic. Honestly, I'm really torn. If I'm picking by the fool-proof method of most attractive players, Brady and Gronk, hello!? But if I'm picking by coolest uniforms? Seahawks for the win. Although, man tears make me cringe, and Russell Wilson has a lot of them from what I've seen (from that one game I watched). And I do love a good joke about balls...

Who am I kidding - Carrie Underwood is going to win the Superbowl before it even starts.

What are your Superbowl plans?

Friday Five

Happy Friday! I'm so excited for a long weekend and hope you all have a fun and relaxing weekend planned!
Now back to the pre-holiday season Friday Five grind.

Sugar. I just saw Maroon 5's video for their new song Sugar yesterday and it is amazing. They literally played wedding crashers for a day in L.A. crashing a bunch of weddings. How cool would that be?! Read about it here

Casey Holmes. During my time off, I clearly didn't have much to do because I became minorly obsessed with YouTube videos, specifically makeup tutorials. And now I'm obsessed with Casey Holmes. She has great tips and is super funny and down to earth. I think we'd be friends.

Break Up With Him. I have played this song by Old Dominion on repeat all week long. And I'm not even exaggerating a little bit. I don't know why I love it so much,  it's not really about anything that's happened to me before, but I'm in love. And, a group of cute guys? Um. Sign me up.

Trivia Crack. Download this. Immediately. And then add me. I love trivia games, mostly because I surprise myself at how good I am at guessing. And random 7th grade science facts I remember (I knew there a reason we had to make a 3D model of a cell. This is totally it...). If you see me intently staring at my phone, there's a good chance this is what I'm doing.

Seersucker Vest. Is it too early to be dreaming of spring? Because when I saw this seersucker vest, I immediately had spring fever. I need this. I'm a sucker for seersucker (see what I did there?!) I hope Shop Hopes added it to their collection!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! And as always, thanks for reading!

Mad for Plaid

By now, you've seen this red plaid shirt a few times, mostly around the holiday season. While I was in Charleston, I threw it on with a vest and some leopard flats while exploring the city and the very windy Folly Beach. I love mixing patterns that are pretty neutral, like the plaid, herringbone, and leopard (leopard is a neutral, afterall).

Also, I always love when everyone else wears fun colors on their lips, but I hate it on myself! I'm trying to sport more colored lips in 2015, first attempt pictured here. If anyone has any tips on how to find a good color for your skin/face/whatever suggestions you have, let me know! I'm still not a fan.

New Year's Eve

As I mentioned in my previous post, I flew down to Charleston, SC for New Year's Eve and spent the remainder of my time off there. One of my good friends moved there this fall and I was so excited to visit! Charleston has been on my list of places to visit for a while now. And let me just say, when my chiropractor told me before I left he would see me if I decided to ever come back, he was right! Good old ChuckTown did not disappoint. It was beyond beautiful, had nice warm weather and southern accents. I was in heaven.

My three friends and I ventured out on the town for NYE and let me just say, I'm not sure I laugh as hard with anyone as much as I do with these girls. We always have so much fun together and it was such a treat to ring in 2015 with them. I can't wait to conquer CMA Fest 2015 with them next :)

I picked up a bunch of different options while shopping for a New Year's outfit and originally settled on a black and gold chevron dress from Nordstrom Rack. I wasn't by any means in love with it, but it did the job. While I was returning the other pieces I picked up, I saw this red number at H&M and fell in love. I'm not sure I've ever actually owned a red dress before and this one was perfect. I'm so mad I forgot to take a picture of my shoes! The heels are covered in jewels (insert heart eye emoji here) but aren't sold anymore.

On a side note, since I knew I was going to be wearing a dress and be in warm weather that didn't require tights (thank goodness!!!), I wanted my legs to look and feel their best. I was lucky enough to be able to try out InstaNatural Cellulite Cream with Caffeine + Retinol to make sure my legs were looking good. The caffeine and retinol gave my legs a nice toned and glowing appearance to ring in the New Year.

How did you celebrate New Year's?!

This post was sponsored by BrandBacker, but as always, all thoughts are my own and genuine.

End of 2014 & Christmas Eve Tulle

I hope everyone has had a great start to 2015! I'm just about the worst blogger ever right now. I had almost two weeks off from work and didn't do a single thing for my blog! Although I did take an amazing trip down to Charleston, SC for New Years and got out of the cold for a while. But I'll tell you guys more about that trip in the next post.

For now, I just wanted to give you all a little recap on the whirlwind last days of 2014 which seemed to fly by. And because I happen to have an unusual amount of documentation. I definitely need to get better at taking pictures in 2015.

I love wrapping presents, and especially loved this wrapping paper. Although, it was super thick and I struggled a little... a lot. After a few battles and re-wrapped boxes, I settled for a few botched wrapping jobs.

Our annual gingerbread house party I mentioned here was a success. Props and all!

Speaking of props, they came in handy at our annual cookie swap! Can you tell that was my festive holiday plaid shirt?

Christmas Eve was celebrated in tulle, perfect for our unseasonably warm 50+ degree December weather.

I continued celebrating the season with college friends and gold glitter pants.

Outfit Details: | Plaid shirt: Old Navy, no longer online, loving this | Tulle Skirt: online boutique (old), similar here and here | Glitter leggings: Bar III (Macy's) |

Next up: New Year's Eve in Charleston.
