Friday Five: SPECIAL EDITION

Happy Friday!

I can't even type this post out without laughing at what I'm about to share. '

So here's my thought process. I love watching YouTube videos. It's actually been my main source of TV since I canceled cable. So, I was inspired and decided to make a favorites video for May as a little Friday Five special edition.

BE EASY ON ME GUYS. This is my first video I've ever filmed like this and the first video I've edited literally since senior year of high school (shout out TV production class coming in hot). I definitely want to play around with different editing features and programs in the future but I figured I should start out simple :) If anyone has any suggestions for editing programs or anything like that, definitely let me know! I don't take myself very seriously and had so much fun filming this and I hope you can tell!

Some things I learned after filming this video:
-My dance moves are those of an 80 year old doing Thriller
-I may have scoliosis - are my shoulders actually that crooked?!
-Speaking of my shoulders, I was reminded of my linebacker shoulders
-I never knew how much I unintentionally rolled my eyes - sorry everyone!

On another note, I wanted to include some favorite moments of the month too because I seriously had so much fun in May!

Steeplechase

Dress: Lauren James

Every year in Nashville there is a Steeplechase and everyone gets dressed to the nines in big hats and spend the day tailgating. If this event wasn't made for me, I'm not sure what was. A big hat, a Lauren James dress and tailgating. I'M IN. I laso had to share this pic of the back of my dress too because it's just too good not to.

Weekend with my mom

My mom came down in the beginning of May to help me get my life together and decorate my new apartment. We had a great weekend and I am so in love with how my place turned out!! I do want to share the whole thing soon, so here's just a little sneak peak.

New friends

I'm going to be honest, making friends as an adult in real life is hard. Obviously I moved to Tennessee with one of my best friends and luckily I found a couple of good friends shortly after moving here and I am so thankful for that, but I missed having different groups of people to hang out with. Enter Bumble BFF. Guys. If you're in a new location or are just looking to expand your friend group, use this. It's seriously the best. Kinda awkward at first but it's nice to know everyone is in the same boat and in my case, it was also mostly other girls who had moved to Nashville recently and wanted to meet people! Genius. I wish I thought of this app.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I am probably flying home to CT as you are reading this to celebrate one of my friend's wedding! I'm so excited to spend a long weekend home and hopefully get to the beach.

Neons & Pom Poms

If you follow me on Instagram, this picture/outfit may look familiar. I wore this dress a few weeks ago to go downtown and watch the Kentucky Derby (we never saw the race...). This was one of the first nice days we had and my roommate and I laid out in the grass because our pool wasn't open yet. Therefore, this was also the first sunburn of the season, so I have a little extra glow in these pictures :)

I spotted this dress as I was running into T.J. Maxx to make a return. Can you ever go to that place to do only a return? I think it's impossible. Between the bright colors and pom poms, I had to have it. And, my first Rocksbox had just come in the mail and this necklace matched perfectly! It was all really meant to be.

P.S. Get a free month of Rocksbox by using this link! Or enter colleenbff103 at checkout!

Outfit details | Dress: T.J. Maxx (not online, love this & this) | Necklace: Rocksbox | Bag: Target (similar) | Wedges: Express (old) similar here & here

Friday Five

Happy Friday! I literally feel like last Friday was yesterday and I couldn't even tell you one prominent thing that happened this week, time is just flying by! But I did book my first flight home to Connecticut this week and I've been setting plans in stone for all of my visitors for CMA Fest here in Nashville in less than a month!! I am so excited for some of my best friends and my brother to be in town. 26 days, if anyone is keeping track...

Prom Story. If you didn't see this story in the news this week, here is one of the most feel good stories I've read lately. This sweet high school quarterback made a promise to a longtime friend with Downs Syndrome to take her to prom, and he did just that. It's so easy in high school to get caught up in being "cool" that this brought such a big smile to my face.

Nick Fradiani. I will admit, I haven't watched American Idol in probably 10 years. But being from Connecticut, I had to watch the finale to see Connecticut's own Nick Fradiani win! It's so funny because I've seen Facebook postings and things for his CT based band for a couple of years now and now he won American Idol! And... he's actually good! I always love watching finales like these, I get so excited for the winner!

Rocksbox. So, I finally gave in and subscribed to Rocksbox. And let me tell you, for $10 a month, it's so worth it! I somehow ended up getting two boxes in the same week, which was extra exciting! If you haven't heard of it, basically you get 3 pieces of jewelry in each box and you can choose to purchase them for a discounted price or just "loan" them for as long as you want and send them back when you're done! I am obsessed with this gorgeous Perry Street necklace. Also, you can get a free month from me with this link! May as well try it once, right?

This Workout. I was sick this week, so when I couldn't make it to the gym one night, I opted for this at home workout. If any of you listen to Elvis Duran, Worst Assistant Anthony posted it on Wednesday and it was actually awesome! I did 2 rounds of it, but if I was feeling better I would try to do 3 or 4. And let me tell you, 2 rounds had me in a serious sweat. I'm definitely planning on adding this into my post cardio routine at the gym, too.

Palm Leaf Jumpsuit. I have seen this TopShop jumpsuit from Nordstrom on multiple blogs and I am actually obsessed with it. I love the palm leaf print, and I love a good jumpsuit. It's been out of stock but it looks like it's back in select sizes! To splurge or not splurge...

Have a good weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Friday Five

Whew! This sure has been a week! Friday came here before I knew it, and I'm not complaining about that! This week I celebrated Cinco de Mayo Nashville style with live country music and not a drop of tequila or a Corona and officially became a Nashville resident (after over FOUR hours at the DMV)!! Now I get to carry around a makeshift paper license until my real one comes in the mail :) And, I don't want to jinx anything, but, I think it's officially summer here in Tennessee and I could not be happier. It's 90 today!! I'm seriously so excited and completely okay with sweating as soon as I step outside. This is what I've been waiting for!

While I don't really know where this week went, I do know what I have been loving!

Pandora Ad. I saw this a couple of weeks ago, but it seemed more appropriate to share the Friday before we celebrate all of our great mothers.

Laughing baby. Okay, seriously, if you need a laugh, or just a smile, watch this. This baby's laughter and joy is so contagious. I love it!

Be My Eyes. I heard about this on the radio the other day and thought it was so cool. This app allows blind people to use their smart phones to upload photos of things they need help identifying (i.e., the expiration date on milk) to the app and volunteers around the world can help them. A blind man himself developed the app, so I trust he knows what he's talking about! Such a simple way to help someone throughout your day or week. Read more about it here and download the app here

Baby Lips. On a more superficial note, I am obsessed with these chapsticks. I know I am late to the game on Baby Lips; I've seen them for years. I picked one up at T.J. Maxx the other day because it was $2.00 and why not. These have a slight tint to them, so they are less aggressive than full on lipsticks (lipstick still scares me, I'm trying to ease into it...) so these are perfect for me! And, they are super hydrating and are actually really great chapsticks. I got it in Pop of Pink, which is a subtle hot pink, if hot pink can even be subtle.

Good Times. Shout out to Bobby Bones for playing this song by Ray Bonneville this week, because I've had it, by no exaggeration, on repeat. Over and over. It is such a feel good song and perfect for summer and driving with your windows down. Follow me on Spotify to see what else I'm listening to these days!

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the nice weather if you're having it! And make sure to spoil all those moms out there :)
